General News
The last three months have been extremely exciting with many changes that have taken place. The first announcement to make is that Sophie and Maya have now officially taken on eximo as a partnership. The last few months have been a real time of evaluation, refocusing and dreaming big. Eximo was really blessed by a bunch of volunteers helping out for a while to make these dreams come true. The girls feel driven and called to take eximo a few steps further, so this is what has happened over the spring/summer period.
Class News
Classes kept strong over the last months in Canterbury. There's been a strong pull to take discussions in the classes deeper and talk about God's kingdom, worship and relationships for a whole term. The received feedback has been such an encouragement – people want to go back to church and have learned more about God.
Classes in Tunbridge Wells continued but not regularly enough due to numbers. The classes that did take place were amazing especially in regards to getting to know some girls, sharing testimonies with them and teaching a group of children about dance in worship. Unfortunately, it was decided to put a hold on it as numbers were too low.
Performance News
Eximo has performed at various events this period. At the end of March eximo collaborated with a church in Maidstone to put together a piece about Easter using dubstep music. Another performance around Easter time was in conjunction with "The Noise" in Tunbridge Wells after a week of helping out with the project holding workshops and also preaching on "God's heart for the community".
A fun weekend in June saw eximo as Cancan dancers at the festival “Le Weekend” in Sandwich with cheering crowds. One of the highlights of the year, marked with the end of our teaching term, always is "Lounge on the farm". This was extremely exciting as the brand new show "Deep End" was performed for the first time with Maya on the piano and voice, Sophie acting and the both of them dancing. Watch out for it on our YouTube page.
Regarding the Nightclub performances, huge steps have been taken forward in building relationships with the right people and continuing to dance at Breakology. There the girls have danced with some pretty big names over the last few months and hopefully will continue to do so.
Future News
As mentioned, this last term has been spent re-establishing eximo. With Maya and Sophie being the sole owners, eximo will see new streams launched in conjunction with redesigning the website. There now will be: eximo.dance, eximo.act, eximo.voice, eximo.music and eximo.word
The website will serve the students to connect more with eximo life and will be a great resource to them to further the discussions of the classes as well as being a great platform to display the work eximo does and be hired in to do more of it.There will be music to be listened to as well as a blog Maya and Sophie will update regularly and Maya’s first book will also be featured on it. Eximo will offer a range of services to churches, youthclubs, schools, festivals and events.
This summer period will be spent getting in gear for the new term in September with 14 classes to be taught over 3 days. New ones will be Ballet Technique, Salsa Aerobics, and G’n’D for adults. The best way to stay up to date with eximo is following them on www.twitter.com/tweeteximo .
